Be informed! Election 2024 Information. September 17 is National Voter Registration Day! WWPL is a National Voting Registration Day partner. Stop by the circulation desk to register to vote. We have all the forms you need, including mail ballot applications for the general election. Primary day is Tuesday, September 10! Polling locations are open 7 AM to 8 PM. Early voting will take place at West Warwick Town Hall until September 9 from 8:30 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday.
Community Needs Pantry at the West Warwick Public Library. We now have a refrigerator and freezer to store perishable items! If you would like to odnate, please hand all perishable items to the circulation desk. If you'd like to donate, the pantry is in need of: fresh produce, shelf stable milk of all kinds, cereal, toiletries such as toilet paper, shampoo, and conditioner. Thank you!
Available Now! Afterthoughts. We are proud to announce the release of our fifth anthology, a collection of fiction and poetry by Rhode Island veterans that explores themes of camaraderie, service, disillusionment, and the duality of civilian-soldier identity. It is available at the circulation desk or online in print and digital formats at major retailers. This activity is made possible in part by a grant form the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Book Chat. Second Tuesday of every month. Come discuss books you've read! Books you want to read! Books you started but never finished! Learn about library offerings and trade recommendations with staff and fellow book lovers. Join us September 10 at 7 PM.
West Warwick Public Library Presents: Geek Reads. A book club for genres including horror, science fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, and more! We are starting off in spooky season with a horror selection: What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher. Saturday, October 19 at 11 AM in the Board Room. Refreshments will be served! Board Games for Adults. Tuesday, September 10 in the Nash Room and Tuesday September 24 in the Champlin Room. The featured game on the 10th is The Village Crone! On the 24th, bring your own game! Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite game of theirs to pitch and the group will vote on what to play. For more information call or email ref@wwpl.org.
All D&D campaigns are currently full. Want more games? We are looking for game masters! We're looking for Game Masters to run RPGs on either Monday or Wednesday nights. Any systems are welcome, and games can be run in person or virtually. If you're available and interested in runnign a game, or have any questions, email amber@wwpl.org.
Adult Coloring Club. Fridays from 12 PM to 2 PM in the Mini Lab. Join us for a friendly and relaxing social gathering where adults can work on adult coloring pages and unwind before the weekend. Materials will be provided. This is a drop in program so no sign up is required and participants may arrive at any time during the program and stay as long as they like for the duration.
Senior Tech Social Club. Thursdays from 10 AM to 12 PM in the Mini Lab. A space for older adults to meet friends and enjoy some company! Book Nook Bookstore. Visit the Book Nook, located behind the circulation desk, to find bargains on books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and more! The Book Nook is operated by the Friends of the Library. All proceeds go towards library programming and services.
Passport Application Acceptance Program. The library accepts applications for new passports on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. If you are interested in racial equity and social justice issues, history, etc., join the Facebook gorup Overflow Rhode Island. Homebound Delivery Service. Family Programs. Dancercise, Tuesdays at 4 PM. Have fun with dance and build self-confidence and self-esteem with Miss Mary. Recommended for ages 3 and up. Sensory Play Group (ages 4-8 recommended), September 10 at 11 AM. Children with a caregiver can play with sensory-friendly activities like Play-Doh, pom poms, sand, magnet games, and more. For children of all abilities, including those with sensory processing challenges, ASD, and/or other needs. Yarn Club (multigenerational program), Wednesday September 25 at 6 PM. Replacing Fiber Craft Club! Patrons ages 6 and up are welcome to participate in this program for knitting, crocheting, and tufting! Learn how to crochet with a member of staff, or bring a project to work on. All children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Fairy Bubble Show, September 14 at 11 AM. Come meet our fairy friend from Circus Dynamics and watch a fun bubble show! Registration and waiting list is full, please call with any questions.
Homeschool Programs. Homeschool Lunch Bunch, Friday September 20 at 1:30 PM. Homeschoolers of all ages can bring a lunch and do an activity at the library together in this new monthly club to make friends and have fun! Homeschool Libratory, Monday Septebmer 23 at 1:30 PM. Monthly STEM program for homeschooled children in grades K-4. This month we will be learning about Taxonomy!
September is Library Card Sign Up Month! Stop by the circulation desk for FREE library cards all month long! any patorn who registers for a card this month will be entered to win a prize bastket. Adults have the chance to win a $20 gift card to Messy's Cafe and children will be entered to win an Optimus Prim prize basket. Library Card Sign Up Month Bingo. Play library card sign up month bingo for your chance to win! Bingo cards can be picked up at any of the service desks. Play for your change to win a $10 Diggy's gift card or a Library T-shirt.
Monthly fundraising raffles at WWPL! We will be holding monthly raffles to help the library raise money for popular programs and services like Hoopla. This month we will have two raffles! A West Warwick Public Library Basket filled with items from our shop with the proceeds to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and an Adventure Basket which includes three general admission tickets to the Adventure Park at Stoors. Tickets can be purchased at the circulation desk for $1 a ticket. Winning tickets will be drawn on September 30.
Sweatin' to the Music Workout Class from Mind & Body Studios. Tuesdays at 3 PM and Thursdays at 10 AM in the Nash Room. No matter what your fitness level is, you can do this FREE class! You can even do this workout from a chair. All are welcome! ATTENTION: Registration is required. Please visit wwpl.org/calendar or click on this graphic to register. Space is limited to 35 participants.

Book Clubs. Mission Mama Book Club, Tuesday September 17 at 7:30. Join us at Mission Mama gym on 115 Washington street for our newest book club! We will be reading One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig. Books will be available at the circulation desk. Free and open to the public. You do not need to be a gym member to attend. Adult Book Club, Tuesday September 24 at 3 PM in the Board Room. Kent County YMCA Book Club, Wednesday September 25. New Time: 12 PM at Kent County YMCA. Join us at the Kent County YMCA for this fiction book group. Horror Film Club. Saturday September 21 at 12 PM on Google Meets. We're watching Freaks (1932). This film is available for free on Tubi and the DVD can be requested through the library catalog.
Adult Craft: Vegetable Cart Miniature. Monday September 16 at 6 PM in the Mini Lab. Join us for this adorably miniature craft! Participants will assemble and paint a miniature vegetable cart. The miniature is pre-cut with our Glowforge and all supplies are provided. Space is limited, so sign up online via the library events calendar or call 401-828-3750 x 1 or email ref@wwpl.org. Limit of one plus one per sign up.
RPG Mini Painting. Every other Friday (September 13 and 27) at 2 PM in the Mini Lab. This club is open to teens and adults! Participants will receive one character mini, and may paint additional minis for the library collection. Supplies and help will be provided, though participants may bring their own supplies! Space and supplies are limited so email sara@wwpl.org to register.
West Bay Community Aciton Presents: Diabetes Prevention Program. Thursdays from 10 AM to 11:15 AM in the Champlin Room. Join us for a free lifestyle change program. It is led by a specially trained lifestyle coach who will support you and your peers as you work to achieve similar goals. It supports you in eating healthier, increasing your physical activity, losing weight, and reducing your risk of type 2 diabetes. Registration is required. Sharing and Healing Together Grief Group. Third Thursday of the month at 12 PM in the Champin Room. Sharing and Healing Together is a compassionate and supportive grief group dedicated to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This group is led by Certified Master Grief Coach Susan Lataile.

Early Learners Programs for ages 0 to Pre-K. Preschool Story Time (ages 3 to 6) Thursday September 12 and 19 at 10 AM. Listen to stories, sing songs, and make friends during our weekly story time! Open Play Group for ages 0 to 6, Thursdays at 11 AM starting September 12. Children ages 0 to 6 and their caregivers are welcome to drop in to the library for a fun play date in the youth programming room. Preschool Picassos, Thursday September 19 at 4 PM. Preschoolers and their caregivers can create an art project together based on a famous artist's work. Parachute Play, September 24 at 10 AM. Children with a caregiver can come enjoy songs and parachute play! Recommended for ages 4 and under.
Teen Programs (5th to 12th grade). Teen Craft, Friday September 13 at 4 PM. Register to make a craft with friends. This month: Slime. Graphic Novel Book Club, Thursday September 27 at 4 PM. Kids in grades 4 to 8 can read and discuss Ember and the Island of Lost Creatures by Jason Pammet. Copies can be picked up at the youth department. Back to Kindergarten, Monday September 30 at 5 PM. Teens can come enjoy activities that are usually reserved for kindergarten students! Fingerpainting, parachute play, and more.
