Elevator Modernization
With the support of the Champlin Foundation, the West Warwick Public Library will be modernizing its elevator this fall. This upgrade is anticipated to begin on
Thursday, September 10 and is estimated to take approximately eight weeks.
While elevator construction is underway, the elevator will be out of service and the second floor and basement levels of the library will only be accessible by stairs. This will impact several regular programs and services; some programs and services may be paused, rescheduled, moved to other areas of the library, or offered with additional accommodations.
The downstairs stairwell to the left of the elevator is temporarily unavailable during construction. Please use the stairwell in the Youth Department to access the lower level of the library.
This page may be updated over the course of construction as more information becomes available.

Additional Accommodations
​Passport Services will continue to be held on the second floor of the library unless accommodation is needed. If you are applying for a passport or accompanying someone to an appointment and the stairs present a barrier, please contact the Passport Office at 401-828-3720 ext. 4 and accommodations will be made.

Mobile and Remote Printing is now available! If you are printing from a phone, tablet, or laptop inside the library, please scan the QR code at the Circulation Desk or click the link below to send your print job. You can also use this link to send print jobs from home and pick them up at the library; print jobs must be collected within 24 hours.

Other programs will proceed in their scheduled locations. Some programs may offer alternative options for accessibility; check the event description at wwpl.org/calendar for more information.

Adult Computer Access
The computers in the Adult Services Department on the second floor will continue to be available during elevator construction. While the elevator is out of service, the library will also host pop-up computer lab hours in the Book Nook for those who cannot access the second floor without the elevator.

Due to staffing limitations, the pop-up computer lab will only be available at the following times:

Mondays: 10 AM to 2 PM

Tuesdays: 10 AM to 2 PM

Wednesdays: 12 PM to 4 PM

Thursdays: 12 PM to 4 PM

Fridays: 10 AM to 2 PM
The week of Monday 10/5 to Friday 10/9, the popup lab will be available during the following hours:

Monday 10/5: 1 PM to 3 PM

Wednesday 10/7: 10 AM to 2 PM

Friday 10/9: 10 AM to 2 PM
The lab will be unavailable on Tuesday 10/6 and Thursday 10/8.

There will be a limited number of computers available for use during these times. We ask that patrons be mindful of the needs of others and use this service only if the stairs present a barrier to access.
​
Patrons should note that the computers in the Youth Department are strictly reserved for children and teens only, and that adults who are not accompanying children will be asked to leave the department per the Safe Child Policy.
Donations
​If you would like to donate materials (books, movies, games, craft supplies, etc.) during elevator construction please call ahead. The library may reject large donations during construction. All other donations (food or monetary donations) will be accepted as usual according to library policy.​
